Know the Rules- Part 11

Last Week's Question:

A simple (and common scenario):

The batter bunts the ball up the 3rd base line, it's a slow roller that is tight to the line but eventually runs foul about halfway to third base.  The third baseman is slow to get to the ball, and does not pick it up immediately.  The ball is still rolling, and hits a rock and rolls back into fair territory.

What is the call?

Answer:

This is a FAIR ball.  Always look to where the ball is when it is first touched- in fair or foul territory?  This is the reason why you should pick up the ball immediately after a ball rolls foul, so something like this doesn't happen.  Make sure you give the umpire a clear view, though, and remember that if any part of the ball is touching the line, then it is still a fair ball.

This Week's Question:

Once in a while we have a situation in a game where a coach calls for an intentional walk to a batter.  It doesn't happen very often, but it's important that the pitcher, catcher and batter all know what their roles are.

What should the pitcher be doing?
What should the catcher be doing?
What should the batter be doing?
