College Update #3

Brittany Hince Siwicki:
No Update. UBC did not play this week.

Courtney Kwasnitza:   Illinois College raised its season record to 6-5 with a 14-0 win over the MacMurray College Highlanders. A scheduled doubleheader with Blackburn College was postponed due to cold weather. Against MacMurray, Courtney collected two hits in four at-bats to maintain her team-leading batting average at .500 for the season. The Lady Blues play four games this week, including their home-opener on March 30 against Midwest Conference South Division rival Knox College.

Danielle Klassen:  Dodge City went 3 and 3 this week bringing their season record to 12 wins and 13 loses. Dani’s playing time was limited again this week but did manage to bat .1000 and bring her season batting average to .555 which is tops on the team. She also has 3 stolen bases. Perhaps the biggest concern facing Dodge is their pitching situation. They are down to two pitchers and although they are doing a good job-signs of fatigue are showing.

Hailey Unger:  MITCHELL, S.D. – Unfavorable weather conditions have caused more changes for the Dakota Wesleyan University softball teams this weekend.

The DWU softball team was slated to open league play Saturday, March 23, at Hastings College, but that game has been pushed back to April 25 at 5 p.m. Dakota Wesleyan was also scheduled to play York College Sunday in nonconference doubleheader in York, Neb., but that game was canceled. The Tigers are scheduled to travel to Orange City, Iowa, on Tuesday, March 26, to play Northwestern College.

Makensy Payne: This week in Dodge City was book ended by a couple of exciting games for Crash. In the first game of the week, roommate and fellow Manitoban, Jaycie Morris, was pitching a gem, but the team was still behind 1-0 in the top of the 7th. Crash came up with another roommate and Manitoban, Danielle Klassen, pinch running at second. Crash doubled, driving in Danielle with the tying run and later scored the go ahead marker. After a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th, the Lady Conqs had a 2-1 victory thanks to the Canadian Connection!

The final game of the week also featured Crash as a spark plug in a 12-3 victory over Kansas City. With the game still scoreless in the third, Crash singled, then stole second and third, keying a three run rally. In the next inning, with two out and no one on base, she doubled, starting a four run rally. Finally, in the fifth, she singled again as the team scored five more runs.It was a solid week for Crash in the field and at the plate, and, with this week's three doubles, she raised her overall BA to .411.

Regan Lawrence:  Regan's team Dickinson Blue Hawks are currently 10 wins and 10 losses. They have returned from Tucson where they went 8 and 8. Two of their losses were to Cal State Marcos who were ranked in the preseason as #1 in the Nation and Lubbock Texas who were ranked #2. They lost to Lubbock 2-1 and to Cal State 2-1. They travel to Sioux City Iowa this week for 6 games. Regan batted 1 for 6 in Tucson with 2RBI and a run scored. She had 2 wins and 2 losses on the mound and seems to be back on track as far as injuries. Her last 2 games she only allowed 1 earned run.

Taylor Studler: No update this week as Minot was hit with a snow storm!
