Know the Rules- Part 2

Here was last week's question:

A batter swings at a pitched ball and hits the ball fair.  The pitched ball contacted part or all of the batter's hand while she was holding the bat.  This is a "dead ball" and a strike is called on the batter.

True or False?

The correct answer is TRUE.  Contrary to what many people think, it has never been the rule that the hands are considered part of the bat.  Therefore, the ball hit the batter, and no matter where it goes, it should be considered a dead ball.  It's a strike on the batter because they swung at the pitch- the result would be the same if they did not hit the ball but did allow their bat to cross the front of the plate while avoiding the ball.  And we all know that if a pitched ball hits a batter who does not swing, it is a dead ball and the batter gets to go to first base.
 Question #2

The batter hits a shot up the first base line and it hits only the orange portion of the double base.  What is the call- fair or foul ball?
