This blog post is a little dated...but as we all know, it's pretty tough to hide outstanding achievements from the Toba Softball blog!
Congratulations to Team Toba 2015 alumna Shaye Kemball, who was this year's recipient of the United Way Student Community Service Award! Shaye is a great role model for her peers and within younger school communities by volunteering as a mentor for incoming grade 9 students, creating and leading whole school assemblies to bring awareness to social justice issues and she is also a member of John Taylor Collegiate's Student Council and the Youth in Philanthropy group. Shaye is also actively involved with a variety of fundraising activities for her school such as organizing hampers and collections for Winnipeg Harvest and the Christmas Cheer Board, as well as organizing a "Walk for Water" event where she led 70 students with pails and buckets down to the community creek in an effort to simulate the walk that children her age do every day in order to provide their families with water.
Well done, Shaye, we are very proud of your dedication to these endeavors and all of the hard work you put in towards social justice issues at your school and in the community!
And did I mention she's a pretty good softball player, too?
Congrats mate!
