College Update #4

Brittany Hince Siwicki:  UBC record 22-17, having played 10 games at home this past week winning six. Brittany pinch ran scoring 2 runs, was left on base once and put out at two on a hit to short stop. Their final regular season games will be played April 10th, against the Clan.

Courtney Kwasnitza:   Illinois College was upset by conference rival Knox College by scores of 14-9 (9 innings) and 7-3 on Saturday. The games were moved to Knox College due to the dump of 10 inches of snow in Jacksonville earlier in the week. The Lady Blues were plagued by some untimely defensive miscues in both games. Courtney added 2 stolen bases and a home run to her season totals. The Lady Blues host Illinois Wesleyan in a doubleheader on Tuesday as part of a busy stretch of 9 games this week.

Danielle Klassen: Dodge City had a slow week only playing two games which they split so they still hover around the .500 mark and sit in the middle of the pack. Dani batted.333 for the week. Hopefully the weather continues to improve and no more games are cancelled.

Hailey Unger: No Update. DWU did not play this week

Makensy Payne:    The Conqs had a light schedule this week and also had to deal with Winter Storm Virgil (Yes, the Americans name their winter storms too), but thanks to some last minute grounds keeping, the teams were able to play (with a ring of snow around the outfield fence).  Crash started at shortstop as the Conqs split the double header, with a 3-1 victory and a 6-3 loss. In spite of a shortage of pitchers, this team is never down and out. The 6-3 loss ended on a really close play with the bases loaded. In League play, Crash is now batting 439 with an on base percentage of 540.

Regan Lawrence: Dickinson State was hampered by the weather this week as they only managed to play 3 games of the scheduled 6 at Sioux City Iowa. The Blue Hawks dropped a 7-3 decision to Bellevue Nebraska in 8 innings, and a 2-1 loss to William Penn. They defeated Northwestern of Iowa 6-0. Regan pitched against Northwestern, where she threw the complete 7 inning shutout to improve her record to 3 wins and 4 losses. She also scored 2 runs and stole 1 base over the weekend. The double header scheduled for Monday at Black Hills State has also been cancelled due to the weather. Dickinson hosts Jamestown Friday and Saturday for 4 games.

Taylor Studler: MSU is now 23-2 overall and 5-1 in their conference.  Minot State is scheduled to finally play a game in Minot on Wednesday (on the football turf) as the Beavers play host to Bemidji State in an NSIC double header.
