College Update #2

Brittany Hince Siwicki: The UBC Thunderbirds travelled to Tucson Arizona from Mar 12th to 17th where they played 8 games. They came away with 6 wins and their record now stands at 17-14.  Also, the Thunderbirds played a double header against their rival Simon Fraser University (SFU) back on Mar 3rd with UBC winning both games being "the first time ever that UBC softball has defeated the Clan." Two games were played with the first game resulting in a 3-2 victory with Brittany scoring the winning run! The second game was a 3-0 final. Big day for UBC softball!

Courtney Kwasnitza:  Illinois College swept its doubleheader against the Rose-Hulman "Fightin' Engineers" (seriously!) by scores of 5-2 and 5-0 to even their season record at .500 (5-5). Courtney had 3 extra base hits, including a home run, and 3 runs scored. This week's games include a doubleheader at Blackburn College and a single game at MacMurray College.

Danielle Klassen:  Dani's team went 3 - 3 this week. They split the first double header, lost both games in the second double header and won both games in the third with the final game ending 26 - 2.  Dani was in the line up to do some batting this week. She got to first on an error, then hit a line drive to center field, came around and scored.  Dani is batting .500 and has 2 stolen bases.

Hailey Unger: Hailey's team played 12 Games in California. Hailey was able to maintain her 300+ batting average and on base percentage. Her next game is March 20th at home.

Makensy Payne: This week in Dodge saw the Conquistadors begin the week at home and end it in Kansas City; their record was 4 and 4, bringing the season totals to 9 wins and 10 losses. Crash started the week with a nasty flu that limited her to one game in each of the first two double headers, but, by week’s end, she was well, contributing a perfect fielding percentage for 3 games at short and 3 at second base. In those games, she specialized in getting on base, batting 400 and earning a total of 7 walks to raise her season batting average to 385 and her on base percentage to 500. She ended the week with a personal best 6 RBI in one game.

Regan Lawrence:  After returning from Arizona, Dickinson's record now sits at .500 (10-10).

Taylor Studler: The Beavers (12-1) are off to their best start in school history and have done the majority of their damage against NCAA Division II opponents – in the program's second season as a DII member.  This week saw Taylor hit her first homerun of the season.
