Know the Rules- Part 1

Believe it or not, it's important to know the rules of the game you play.  However, most players are lacking in simple knowledge of the rules of softball.  There were more than a few blank stares when we talked about infield fly at one of our practices last summer...

Every week I'm going to present a question or scenario on the blog.  You'll have a week to think about it and do some research, and then the following week I'll post the answer and explanation with a new question.  You never know when knowing the rules could come in handy...and it could mean the difference between a strike and a ball, being out or safe or even an extra run.

QUESTION #1

A batter swings at a pitched ball and hits the ball fair.  The pitched ball contacted part or all of the batter's hand while she was holding the bat.  This is a "dead ball" and a strike is called on the batter.

True or False?
