On Friday night the Team Toba gals got to participate in something pretty special- The 2017 Canada Summer Games Opening Ceremonies! It's extra special because as Week 2 athletes, we're not usually able to attend...but it's handy when you live in the host province!
The evening was amazing- we started with dinner at the Convention Centre followed by some live on-air cheers with Global TV. Then there was the marshalling...and the cowbells...and the waiting...and the cowbells...and then finally we made our way to the "secret" underground entrance at Bell MTS Centre and marched in front of a huge crowd! Some of us even shook hands with the prime minister as we walked by. Then we were treated to a great show full of aboriginal ceremonies, performances by the Bros. Landreth and Serena Ryder, a dancing Golden Boy and then finally the lighting of the cauldron by Cindy Klassen.
Here are some pics!
