Team Toba started off their Canada Games tournament with a big win against Newfoundland this morning. Jill had a great game on the mound and was backed up by some solid defence. The winner of "le chapeau" was Stef who had an amazing game at the plate. Stef scored four runs herself, and her hits included 2 doubles and a home run in the bottom of the third to end the game. Final score was 16-0 for Team Toba. Next up is Ontario at 3pm, hopefully the rain stays away!
More photos to follow later...was using the big girl camera so it's not as convenient as with my phone to load info!
you better check the definition of a "walk off"
ReplyDeletehome run
Stop it Howie
DeleteHere it is..... a walk-off home run is a home run that ends the game. It must be a home run that gives the home team the lead (and consequently, the win) in the bottom of the final inning of the game. Thus the home team can "walk off" the field immediately afterward, rather than finishing the inning. Since this was the final inning by way of mercy I think it fits. Must be a newf!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHome Runs are the best thing ever! I think it's because they're sooooo strong!!! Nice game!
ReplyDeletemercy rule?????
ReplyDeletewake up homer, there's no mercy rule in real baseball
and that's where the term "walk off home run" originated
describing a home run to win the game in the bottom of the 9th
or to break a tie in extra innings
Well Played Toba. Quick work of NFLD and great game vs ONT. Nice job getting almost everyone into the lineup on Day 1. Enjoy the 2-0 start but don't get lost in it.
ReplyDeleteThe Road to Gold is a tough Journey.
Focus.
I mean really,,,,what type of clown would even "think" to chastise a home run......REALLY? The kid played a great game.....acknowledge the effort,,,not criticize the words.......WOW! Nicely done home run gal!
ReplyDeleteAnd,,,,well done TOBA!!!! Only a half dozen wins left!
ReplyDeleteMercy Rule.....Not a walk off???? How bad do you want to lose? 16-0 and didn't finish the 3rd? Mercy Me!!! Sure looks like a walkoff to me. And you are right its not baseball its called fastpitch softball. Spell it with me F a s t p i t c h s o f t b a l l. -HOMER
