Team Toba Softball strongly encourages all of our readers in the softball community to get behind one special project- the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex in Brandon.
Here is an excerpt from the submission:
This project is to build 4 adult and 4 youth softball diamonds and associated canteen and washrooms. The facility will address a demand for additional diamonds for more than 1500 softball players in the community. Softball provides opportunities for people be more physically active throughout their lives as we have players aged from 5 to 85. This project also creates the opportunity to rehabilitate a parcel of abandoned land within a large residential area in the north end of the city. A new recreation facility for youth, adults and senior softball, along with recent affordable housing developments will help revitalize this area.
The project is named for a young lady who grew up playing the sport of softball in Brandon. She was attending Dickinson State University on a softball scholarship when she and two teammates lost their lives in a tragic accident. This facility will help to honour her memory.
Let's all help push the project to the next round! You can vote once a day, so set those reminders on your phones!
